E-mail Setup with Outlook Express

This page describes the process to set up your E-mail using Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express. If you use another E-mail client, refer to our generic E-mail page to get your server information.

1. Open Microsoft Outlook Express

2. From the Tools menu, choose Accounts

3. A new dialog box should appear with four tabs: All, Mail, News and Directory Service. Click the Mail tab

4. Click the Add button, and choose Mail. Outlook Express will now guide you through a series of dialog boxes.

5. For Display Name, type your name as you want others to see it when they receive an E-mail from you. Typically this is just your first and last name

6. For E-mail Address, type your username then add @jsr.net. So if your username was jsmith, your E-mail address is jsmith@jsr.net

7. For E-mail Server Names ensure the following options are set:

8. For Internet Mail Logon, your Account Name is the same as your username, and your password should have been chosen by you upon signup. It's a good idea to check the Remember Me box, so you don't have to type your password every time you check your email. Also ensure that the last box is NOT checked.

9. That's it! You are finished. Close the box, and hit the Send/Receive button in Outlook. Try sending an email to yourself. If you encountered any problems during this process, don't hesitate to contact us
