What is a Digital Phone?

Eyesurf Digital Phone service (also called VoIP phone service) allows you to make/receive calls through your High Speed Internet connection, rather than through a traditional telephone line. The end result is substantially lower monthly fees than you would pay using a traditional home phone.

At Eyesurf, we use the phrase Digital Phone and VoIP phone interchangeably.

Is this the same as VoIP?

Yes. VoIP means Voice Over IP. In simple terms, it is the technology that allows you to make/receive phone calls through your High Speed Internet connection.

At Eyesurf, we use the phrase Digital Phone and VoIP phone interchangeably.

Do I need any kind of special
phones to use this phone service?

No, you can use your existing landline phones. However, instead of plugging your phones into a wall jack, you would plug them into the phone port on your modem (see example) or ATA device (see example)

Also be sure to visit our mobile section to see how you can extend this service to use on your mobile phone.

Why use Digital Phone service?

  • 1. Lower monthly fees: Eyesurf digital phone service — home or business — will cost a fraction of what you would normally pay for traditional phone service
  • 2. Better long distance rates: Eyesurf digital phone service includes free calling anytime/anywhere in Canada. Optionally, you may add unlimited USA calling for $5/month. Click here to see our industry low international rates as well
  • 3. Portability: You may use your Digital Phone phone anywhere in the world that has an active Internet connection. This means that you can take a trip across the world to Australia, and still make/receive calls using your VoIP phone, just as if you were back home. How? Simply take your adapter on your trip, and plug it into a modem/router that has internet connectivity
